I am not on my game. "One post a week," I said. "It will be easy," I said. Then half of the month of July happened in what feels like the blink of an eye. I have been busy in the most fun frantic funny happy exciting way, and I wouldn't change a second of it! A short synopsis of my goings on:

1. Best friend's wedding in Nashville. Awesome awesome awesome!!

2. Little brother weekend visit: Cinci Brewery tour and Westfest

3. Nannying full time 3 days a week

4. Writing my literature review for grad school. It's about school gardens :)

5. Three day visit in Chicago for 4th of July and Cincinnati Reds game.

6. Full body poison ivy on both Ryan and I. Emergency room visit x2.

7. Ryan bought a house! Surprise welcome home party included a tree planting ceremony.

8. Afore-mentioned house rehab and demolition has begun. Subsequent ER visits expected.

9. Burning through some fabulous books on loan from my friend Kim.

Things I have not been doing:

1. Exercising

2. Cooking

3. Showering regularly

4. Planning for school to start in 1 month

It's been an amazing summer, but I'm starting to feel like I live in a fantasy land where I have no real responsibilities. Time to get back to reality, folks. And maybe also lose the extra LB's gained over the past weeks. Maybe.

strawberries and chocolate chips

Here's a recipe for this awesome chocolate-almond butter oatmeal that I made TWO MONTHS AGO. Yes, that's right, the last thing I cooked was two months ago. Let he without sin cast the first stone. This oatmeal is delicious and decadant, yet surprisingly easy. In fact, I'm not really sure I can consider this "cooking," as it's done in the microwave and requires 3 minutes of time. Hmm... so I guess I can't remember the last thing I cooked. Excuse me while I re-evaluate my identity as a food blogger.

1 tbsp chocolate chips (add more if desired)

pictured toppings:

sliced strawberries

almond slices

chocolate chips

1. Add oats and water to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute 30 seconds. If still too watery, microwave an additional 30 seconds.

2. Stir in almond butter and chocolate chips while oatmeal is still very hot. Top with desired toppings.
